My Favorite Dollar Tree Books
See You Again in Pyongyang, Travis Jeppeson’s book about his journey as a student at Kim Hyong Jik University in Kim Jong Un’s North Korea transported me thousands of miles away from where I am or want to be. Precisely what a good book should do for the reader. Another good find from the Dollar Tree, I remind myself.
Maybe you don’t shop at Dollar Tree. That’s ok. Probably I’ll still like you anyway. Maybe there is not a Dollar Tree in your area, like the towns I discovered this summer in upstate Michigan. Maybe you shop only online. Whatever works for you. Just read.
Before we proceed, let me assure you that I have no, have never had, and it is most unlikely that I will have any connection with Dollar Tree other than moving through the aisles quickly as a customer. So don’t think I’m a shill in electronic disguise for them. I’m only sharing my experience.
Years ago, I taught an evening management class once a week in a city a couple of hours from where I resided. I would drive to the class location early to avoid rush hour traffic. Then I’d have a snack before class, do some last-minute grading, or get some mall walking exercise before class began.
The mall near the class location housed a Dollar Tree, that Virginia based Fortune 500 company that sells everything from toys to toilet paper. Given I also taught marketing, I was curious to see what they offered and how it was presented. Were the items really available for no more than one dollar?
